I started the new year promising that I’d start each month with a kitchen update. What was I thinking? Clearly I wasn’t. I enjoy cooking, I do a lot of cooking. But I’ve done about as many updates on sourdough as I’m going to manage. I make my own seitan and my own kombucha, and I enjoy it. But my culinary imagination is quite limited. I don’t dream about blending spices and trying out new flavours. What I dream about is building community and sparking change.
So apologies to any readers who were getting excited about the prospect of a monthly update on my sourdough escapades. I’m swapping kitchen vignettes with political rants. But the rest of the month will hopefully stay unchanged – because each of those things is really about building community and connection, with both human and more-than-human entities.
