I’ve just invested in a large chainsaw – which is both a statement of independence and a terrifying prospect! A chainsaw seems to me a very gendered tool, it’s a man’s toy, not really something a woman should get excited by. And to be honest, I found the old diesel chainsaw that my ex- bought too difficult to manage. I could only ever start it when I was trying to see if I could start it. Near the shed, on the first pull, the chainsaw would chug into life. As soon as I got it near a fallen log, I could pull for 20 minutes and there would be just the occasional sputter.
So taking matters into hand, I bought a new electric model, which anyone can start, me included. It doesn’t last as long, but I can get it started – and the rounds about were the first result. I’m taking these back to my urban home, where I’m replacing the brick path (which is in the wrong place) with a fairy path of log rounds.
Next step will be to use the chainsaw mill I’ve bought and make some planks, the adventures continue…
