Education doesn’t start at the school gates, nor does it end there.
I don’t claim to have all, or even any, of the answers, but we’re on a journey and one of the reasons for this blog has been to share what we do, and a bit of why we do it.
First off, we aren’t following any curriculum. We love a lot of the Brave Writer stuff, dipping in and out of it as we feel inspired, and the Brave Writer philosophy of putting interest front and centre, the scaffolding of an education, upon which the lessons of grammar, maths or science can be hung, mirrored what we had already been doing. And learning isn’t just for the kids – it’s for us adults as well. It can be learning with the kids, or courses that are just for us.
Respect is our keyword, but we try to build kindness and connection into our curriculum.
Hopefully what we do might inspire some parents who are taking this journey – or act as a warning of what to NEVER, EVER think about doing!
