Progress! The base is done. Skewed, but done.

I am choosing progress over perfection. It isn’t that I just screwed (quite literally) up, by not checking that my timbers were at 90 degrees before putting the last screws in. Fortunately, it should be fine… as long at the top timbers are straight, the skewed base will not make any difference.

One of the permaculture principles is to take things slow. While I’m making slow progress, this is more because I’ve let other things dictate the rhythm of my days. That last timber? It was screwed in while making dinner, which had to be finished before the last work meeting of the day. So I was rushing, and hungry. I was feeling a bit buzzed about being outside and getting things done – and I really wanted to get it done. So it got done, but skewed.

In trying to rush, I’ve almost certainly built in more work for myself further down the line. But for now, I’ll squint and look at it with my head tilted and take pride in getting something finished.
